Moving with a professional mover used to be very expensive, but now there is a revolutionary new money saving concept call U Load™.
How U-Load works; why U-Load saves you money.
MoveAmerica developed U-Load™ as a concept to provide professional moving services at a much lower cost. The idea was to come up with a method of moving that helped families who did not want to pay the expensive interstate rates of the full service movers, but who also did not want the hassle, expense and responsibility of driving a large moving truck themselves.
With MoveAmerica U-Load™ we bring an empty moving trailer to your home, you load it, we then drive it to your destination.
Here are the 5 easy steps to a MoveAmerica U-Load™ move:
- The first step is to carefully estimate the amount of trailer space that you need for your move. This is key because the space you need determines the cost of your move. Rule of thumb is to estimate 3 feet of trailer space for each room you are moving. To be a more accurate estimate you can use our online “space estimator” or you can call us toll-free at 1-877-495-9555 and we will help you estimate your needs. Once you know your estimated space you can get an estimate from us either by telephone or via this website.
- On the day you request, a 28 foot long "pup" trailer is delivered to your home. From the day of delivery, you have 48 hours (plus any weekends) to load the trailer, and if you need more time that is available too. If we bring the trailer on Friday, weekends are not counted as business days so you would have an extra 2 days to load or unload.
- You load the front of the trailer with your shipment using the full width and the full height of the trailer. In the MoveAmerica system, you only pay for the actual amount of space in lineal feet (the length of the trailer measured from the back wall) that you use, but the entire trailer (28 feet long) is available in case you need it. The minimum chargeable length is 3 feet of the trailer. Each trailer comes fully equipped with "loadlocks", which are bars that separate and secure your load. You erect a simple bulkhead behind your shipment using 2 sheets of plywood and the loadlocks, and you're ready to go. Once your possessions are loaded and secured behind a loadblock just call the MoveAmerica office and we'll have the trailer picked up.
- The trailer returns to our terminal where the space behind your shipment is filled out that evening with commercial dry cargo on skids. This strategy of sharing your trailer with commercial freight doesn’t affect your cargo at all, but enables us to provide you with a price that is much lower than that charged by full-service movers. Around midnight of the day of your move, your locked and sealed trailer begins moving to your new home and travels about 500 miles each business day.
- When the trailer arrives at your destination, MoveAmerica will put you in touch with the destination delivery coordinator who will schedule your delivery time on the date and time most convenient to you. The trailer will be delivered to your new home just as you left it with your shipment intact behind its bulkhead. All commercial cargo will have been removed by this time. Once the trailer is delivered to you, your last step is to unload the trailer (again, you have 48 free hours plus weekends). Then all you have to do is call us to pickup the empty trailer.
The bottom line is that with MoveAmerica, your move is in the hands of professional movers, using first-class equipment but you can save thousands of dollars because of the benefits of MoveAmerica’s U-Load™ program where you load the truck and we protect and drive it to your new home.
