Storage Containers
Containerized storage has been around a long time in the United States, at least since the early sixties. MoveAmerica and its predecessors stored millions of pounds in storage containers. In those days we called them "storage pallets".

For long term storage purposes, furniture can be stored in any of the following: 20 or 40 foot steamship containers, custom outside storage containers, or wooden containers (a storage pallet). Wooden containers are the most common, and are usually stacked in a warehouse 3 or 4 levels high. One of these containers usually holds about a room of furniture.

What does this mean to you? This works in one of two ways. One way, which is probably the easiest, is for MoveAmerica to deliver a 28 foot trailer to your door, U-Load, and we deliver it to a storage warehouse in your destination city. At this point, you, or we, would unload the trailer into the storage container and it would be placed into storage. A common question is "if I move in a trailer, how long can I leave my shipment in the trailer without charge before I incur storage"? Usually, you can end up leaving your shipment in the trailer without charge for roughly 4 or 5 days after arrival, depending on the destination terminals need for equipment. If they're not pressed for equipment you might even be able to leave it longer without any storage fee. If you are planning on long term storage, i.e., leaving your furniture for longer than a week, you should consider delivering your shipment to a storage or mini storage warehouse.
